Those women who shaped Montréal

Take part in this tour that highlights the fundamental role of women during the French regime and unveils the extent of their work that history has sometimes minimized. In Old Montreal, you will hear about Jeanne Mance, now recognized as the co-founder of Montreal. You will also retrace the footsteps of pioneers such as Marguerite Bourgeoys, Mère de Brésoles, and Louise de Ramezay. The story of Expo 67

Expo 67 in Montreal was a landmark event for the city and an entire generation. A colossal project carried out in record time, Expo 67 not only transformed the city and its infrastructure, but also touched the hearts of Montrealers and the 50 million people who visited it. Both the small and the great story of Expo 67 are shared during this enjoyable tour of the site where the Universal and International Exhibition of Montreal was held: Ile Ste-Hélène, in the middle of the St. Lawrence River. Relive wonderful memories or come discover a piece of Montreal’s history!

Alleys and colors of the Plateau

Take part in this tour that highlights the fundamental role of Montreal’s alleys (known as “ruelles” in French) during the 1840s. Despite being secondary arteries without names, these alleys reveal a multitude of colors and intimate, sometimes unusual, often artistic, and even poetic corners. Today, the green alleys of the Plateau offer gathering places for families and neighbors, as well as favorite walking spots for many photographers, backpackers, artists, writers, urban art enthusiasts, and other curious individuals. Begin on the old Gilford road to see the original sites of the Plateau, during the time of villages, tanneries, and now-extinct quarries. Then, stroll through a series of eclectic alleys and small streets that evoke the working-class past of one of Canada’s most densely populated neighborhoods.
